Clorinda in the opera production La Cenerentola of G. Rossini

The fate of G. Rossini’s brilliant comic opera La Cenerentola (better known as Cinderella or Goodness Triumphant) and the fate of its heroine rhyme with each other. Initially underrated, “Cinderella” later delighted and conquered the world.
This is Rossini at his best: lively and sparkling music in which his mastery of the bel canto style shines through. Only virtuosos of the highest class can sing “Cinderella” opera with its crazy tempos and mind-blowing passages.
This is not a story you have heard many times before. And this is not what the old storyteller Perrault or Mr. Walt Disney told. In the fairy tale that we (Triomphe de l’Art company) tell you, there is no glass slipper, no good fairy, and no wicked stepmother. But there is a good prince, two silly sisters and, of course, the sweet Cinderella herself. That means there is unmasked vanity, overwhelming love and, of course, magic. This magic is in Rossini’s music, in his subtle musical humor that underlines the true values of life and the triumph of love.
